Program Accreditation
Engineering Program
Sweet Briar is one of two ABET-accredited engineering programs at women’s colleges. The Sweet Briar Bachelor of Science in engineering science is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, Maryland 21202-4012, 410-347-7700.
Teacher Preparation Program
Sweet Briar’s teacher education preparation program is accredited by the Concil for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In 2022, the teacher education program received probationary status. CAEP Standard 5 was not met because there was insufficient evidence to show a quality assurance system and not enough data to show continuous improvement. All the current programs were reviewed. The Education Department is working to meet expectations for the 2024 CAEP visit. Please see the full accreditation report.
