Program Accreditation
Engineering Program
Sweet Briar is one of two ABET-accredited engineering programs at women’s colleges. The Sweet Briar Bachelor of Science in engineering science is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, Maryland 21202-4012, 410-347-7700.
Teacher Preparation Program
Sweet Briar’s teacher education preparation program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In 2024, the teacher education program earned national accreditation from CAEP for its undergraduate Elementary Education licensure program and its Master of Arts degree programs in education and teaching: Elementary Education; PreK-12 Dance Arts, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts; 6-12 English, History and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry; and Special Education General Curriculum in K-6 and 6-12. All students in the program, may achieve an endorsement in Special Education, too.
