(52 undergraduate credits; 30 graduate credits)

Required Professional Studies Courses:

Teaching is challenging, rewarding, and important work. Our PK-12 schools need good teachers - knowledgeable, well-prepared, and determined teachers who respond appropriately to the needs of all students. Through a combination of rigorous and engaging coursework, individualized mentoring from the Teacher Education Program faculty, and extensive field experiences, you will graduate ready to assume the challenges of the professional educator who can make a positive difference in the lives of children.

The Education Program offers several pathways to teacher licensure: Elementary (B.A. and M.A.T.), Secondary (M.A.T.), and PreK-12 (M.A.T.). [To enter the M.A.T. program students first graduate with a major (or the equivalent) in the content area they plan to teach and with the necessary pre-student teaching Education coursework completed.]

Education students also are encouraged to achieve an add-on endorsement in Special Education-general curriculum. With this endorsement, teachers better support the many K-12 students with special needs.
