EDUC 327 - Literacy Development II


CR: 4
Prerequisite: EDUC 325 .  This course is designed to explore literacy development, differentiated instruction, and instructional methods in grades 3-6 and builds on what students learned in Literacy Development I (EDUC 325). Students will expand upon and apply their knowledge of developmental literacy and language acquisition. They will create lesson plans and apply instructional methods to support reading comprehension and knowledge acquisition. Students will learn and apply a variety of instructional methods to support a well-rounded literacy program that supports reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and other literacies. This course includes a field experience component of 20 hours in a 3-6 school setting. A course fee may be required to cover the costs of travel, background checks, and fingerprinting.  Students may apply for a Grant for Engaged Learning to offset these expenses.

  This course includes a clinical lab component in a public school setting. A fee for a background check may be required for this course.
