EDUC 641 - Pedagogy and Practicum for the K-12 Classroom

CR: 12
Prerequisite: Only open to accepted M.A.T. students. This course includes a minimum of 150 hours of supervised teaching in a PreK-12 classroom. This course provides students more continuous time in the preK-12 school-setting to prepare them for full-time student teaching responsibilities the following semester. They will examine student learning more closely, and explore, develop, and implement classroom management techniques that are responsive and relevant to the context in which they teach. M.A.T. students will explore ways in which the classroom teacher reaches beyond the classroom to school faculty and staff; to parents; and to the community. A course fee may be required to cover the costs of travel, background checks, and fingerprinting. Students may apply for a Grant for Engaged Learning to offset these expenses.

Note: Courses numbered at the 600 level are exclusively for graduate students. Should an undergraduate student register in a 600-level class, they will be dropped without prior notice.
