BIOL 116 - Medical Terminology CR: 1 Prerequisite: BIOL 111 This course provides a comprehensive introduction to medical terminology, including the structure, function, and usage of medical terms. Students will learn the language of medicine, focusing on word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms. Terminology includes words from Greek and Latin, eponyms, acronyms, and modern English. Lectures will be divided into different body systems and the relevant vocabulary. Discussion will include case examples and different career paths in the medical field. Emphasis will be placed on understanding terms used in medical records, clinical settings, and healthcare communication.
