Chemistry lies at the heart of modern science. A degree in chemistry can open up the pathway to a variety of careers, ranging from science journalism to laboratory research. Students learn how to apply concepts learned in lecture courses to the laboratory, using a variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation. Toward the end of their time at Sweet Briar, students will have the opportunity to work on their own research project under the guidance of a faculty member.
