ECON 336 - International Economics

Prerequisite: ECON 101 . Prerequisite or co-requisite: ECON 102 highly recommended. This course explores three major areas of international economics: international trade, international development, and international finance. The course will introduce and apply various theories of international trade to enable students to analyze and understand the gains from trade as well as welfare effects on different groups in society. The course also explores key theories of international economic development including the role of trade and foreign investment in developing economics. In addition, the course studies various aspects of international finance including foreign exchange rates and key international accounting measures. The course also explores the potential effects of international agreements on domestic policies, and will integrate a discussion of political influences on public policies related to international economics. Not open to students who have earned credit for ECON 338 or ECON 357.
