EDUC 327 - Literacy Development II CR: 4 Prerequisite: EDUC 245 , EDUC 325 , and acceptance into the undergraduate portion of the Education Program. This course converges instructional techniques and assessment philosophies introduced in EDUC 325 with the literacy decelopment theories and research-based instructional strategies needed to develop a balanced literacy program for upper elementary (grades 3-6) readers. Students will design and implement data-driven, developmentally appropriate literacy lessons by utilizing leveled texts and research-based instructional methods involving metacognition, reading comprehension, word study, vocabulary, and writing instruction. This course includes a clinical lab component in a public school setting. A fee for a background check may be required for this course.
