EDUC 333 - Reading in the Content Areas CR: 4 Prerequisite: EDUC 245 and acceptance into the undergraduate portion of the Education Program. This course emphasizes the importance of utilizing research-based reading and literacy strategies in the secondary, 6-12 classroom to facilitate learning through cross-curricular connections to the content areas. Students will design and implement lesson plans that focus on aiding content area instruction through the use of reciprocal teaching techniques, before, during, and after reading comprehension strategies, and critical and creative methods for multigenre response to course content. This course includes a clinical lab component in a public school setting. A fee for a background check may be required for this course.
